Stellar Reviews Privacy Policy
Stellar Reviews is a Shopify app published by Sizzle (“Sizzle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what information the app accesses, how we store, use, and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to merchants who install Stellar Reviews and to shoppers who submit reviews.
Stellar Reviews helps a store collect and display product reviews: star ratings, photo and video reviews, a storefront widget, and optional post-purchase emails inviting customers to leave a review.
Summary
Stellar Reviews stores the reviews shoppers submit and, when the merchant turns on review-request emails, the name and email address from an order so it can send that request. It requests no payment data. Data is stored in the United States with a small set of providers (Neon, Netlify, Resend, and Google reCAPTCHA). Every request email has a one-click unsubscribe, and when a merchant uninstalls, we delete their store's data about 48 hours later.
Information we access
Shopify grants the app these permissions when a merchant installs it:
- Read products - to attach reviews to the right product and show product names in the app.
- Read orders - to know when an order is fulfilled so the app can send a review request and mark the reviewer as a verified buyer. This includes the customer's name and email on the order.
Information we store
- Reviews: star rating, title and text, the reviewer's display name, an optional email address (used only to match verified buyers and to honor deletion requests - never shown publicly), the product reviewed, and any photos or videos included.
- Review requests: for orders where the merchant enabled request emails, the customer's email and first name, the order and product identifiers, and a one-time link token, kept only as long as needed to send the request.
- Unsubscribe records: email addresses that opted out of request emails, so we don't email them again.
- Store and app data: the store's domain, the app's settings, and the authentication tokens Shopify issues so the app can operate.
Information we do not access
- No payment information - billing is handled entirely by Shopify.
- No customer data beyond what's described above; we don't build shopper profiles or use data for advertising, and we never sell personal data.
Shoppers submitting a review
The review form may be protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam, subject to Google'sPrivacy Policy andTerms of Service.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run the app: Neon(database), Netlify (hosting), Resend (sends review-request emails and receives the recipient's email and first name), andGoogle reCAPTCHA (spam prevention). Data is processed and stored in the United States.
Data retention and deletion
- Reviews are kept until the merchant deletes them or uninstalls the app.
- Review requests are kept only long enough to send them.
- About 48 hours after uninstall, Shopify sends a deletion request and we permanently delete the store's data.
- We respond automatically to Shopify's privacy webhooks (
customers/data_request,customers/redact,shop/redact): customer redaction deletes review content and emails tied to that customer, and shop redaction deletes everything for the store.
Your choices
- Shoppers can unsubscribe from request emails via the link in any message, or email us to have a review removed.
- Merchants can hide or delete any review from the app's Reviews page, and turn request emails on or off in Settings.
