Shrink Ray Privacy Policy
Shrink Ray is a Shopify app published by Sizzle (“Sizzle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what information the app accesses, how we store and use it, and the choices you have. It applies to merchants who install Shrink Ray on their Shopify store.
Shrink Ray compresses a store's product images so pages load faster. It keeps a backup of every original image so you can restore it, can write alt text for images that are missing it, and skips any image that wouldn't get smaller.
Summary
In short: Shrink Ray works with your own product images and nothing about your shoppers. We request no customer or order permissions, so we never access shopper names, emails, addresses, or orders. Your data is stored in the United States, we use only a small set of service providers (Neon, Netlify, Anthropic, and Shopify), and we run no tracking or advertising cookies. When you uninstall, everything we hold for your store is fully deleted about 48 hours later.
Information we access and store
Shrink Ray is an image optimization tool, so the data it touches is your own store content. Specifically:
- Product images: the app downloads your product images, compresses them, and uploads the smaller versions back to your store. It can also update image alt text.
- Image backups: a copy of each original image file, kept so you can restore it with one click. Backups are automatically deleted after 30 days (60 days on the Pro plan).
- App metadata that we generate to run the service: per-image records (Shopify image ID, owning product, before/after file sizes, alt text before/after, optimization status), your settings (image quality, auto-optimize, alt text template), and monthly usage counts used only to enforce your plan's limits.
Information we do not access
- No customer names, emails, addresses, orders, or any other shopper information. The app has no permission to read customer or order data.
- No payment information. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify.
- No theme code. Shrink Ray never reads or modifies your theme.
Service providers
Image compression runs on Netlify (hosting and file storage). App data is stored in a managed Postgres database on Neon. When alt text is written by AI, the product image is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a short description; Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. All data is processed and stored in the United States.
Data retention and deletion
- Uninstalling the app immediately stops all processing.
- About 48 hours after uninstall, Shopify sends us a deletion request and we permanently delete everything we hold for your store: settings, image records, and all backups.
- Backups also expire automatically on their 30/60-day schedule while the app is installed.
- We respond to Shopify's privacy webhooks (
customers/data_request,customers/redact,shop/redact) automatically. Because we store no shopper data, customer requests are logged and confirmed with nothing to return or redact.
Your choices
- Restore any optimized image to its original from the app's Images page.
- Turn off automatic optimization at any time in Settings.
- Uninstall the app to stop all processing and trigger full deletion.
