Four apps do this job well in 2026. They differ on price, what they cover, and what a restore actually does. Here is the straight version, including where our own app is not the right pick.

Rewind
The category veteran, and the broadest coverage of the four. Rewind backs up customer and order data, which none of the others fully do, and it has agency-friendly features for people managing many stores. Two tradeoffs show up in its 4.2 rating. First, pricing is banded by order volume: the $19 plan covers 300 orders a month, and the next step up is $99 with nothing in between, so a growing store can jump price hard. Second, the recurring theme in the critical reviews is restore-time friction, including restores that run all-or-nothing (one reviewer notes you "restore ALL products or none") and slow help when a restore stalls. If you need customer and order records in your backups, Rewind or BackupMaster are your realistic options, and you should read their recent reviews before picking.
BackupMaster
Broad coverage like Rewind, better rated, cheaper entry. It also does store duplication for staging, which is genuinely useful for larger teams. A solid pick if you want customers and orders covered without Rewind's pricing.
TinyBackup
The budget pick with a perfect rating so far. Newer and smaller, which cuts both ways: less track record, but the merchants using it clearly like it. Worth a look if price is the deciding factor.

Common questions
Does Shopify back up my store natively?
No. Theme version history covers theme files and you can export products as CSV, but there is no native way to restore deleted products, pages, or collections. Shopify support cannot bring back a deleted product either. That gap is the whole reason backup apps exist.
What does a restore actually do?
It depends on the app, and this is worth checking before you need it. Some apps rewrite items to the backed-up version. TimeVault shows you a diff of every change first and never deletes anything you created after the backup point. Ask the same question of any app you evaluate: can I see what will change before it changes?
Why does customer and order coverage differ?
Apps that back up customers and orders need read access to that data, which means your shoppers' personal information flows through the vendor's systems. Some merchants want that coverage and accept the tradeoff.
